
Second post about Japanese rugby (check the first one here)... to display a couple of early illustrations.
Strange piece of memorabilia above : this fine rugby action is a paper litho on the back of a small pocket miror... I've found no indication of date, but it's definitely "Made In Japan"...
Below is a postcard published in 1924 - posted in 1930 - showing all kind of Japanese athletes practising either traditional Japanese (Sumo, Kendo, Archery, Judo...) or Western (Tennis, Rowing, Basket-Ball, Base-Ball, etc...) sports. (large pic here)

A Japanese rugger is illustrated there... already wearing the colours of "Cherry Blossoms" national team... I guess that the photography inside the card shows the gates of this multi-sports club... Has anyone got a hint ?


The character of "Meiji Jingu" is written in the oval photography(under the postmark).
