Not Standford nor California (another topic... another time...) but California School of Mechanical Arts, aka "Lick" (from founder James Lick), as I recently found a couple of School Student Magazine "The Tiger" related to rugby...
The Tiger nowadays remains the official sport mascot at Lick, but it seems that they no longer play rugby there...

This pre-ww1 Californian rugby paves the way to future American victories at 1920 and 1924 rugby Olympics... We'll come back to that later...
