Some of my Welsh friends are upset... I woke up early last Sunday to get this fine card at eBay... and eventually got it... Sorry, gentlemen, next time it will be yours ;-) In the meantime, I can only invite you to follow the links to get a hi-res picture of it at Flickr (front , back)
I don't know where this picture was shot, nor the names of the teams... and no date either as the stamp has been removed... All rugby "Sherlock Holmes" are welcome if they have a clue !
Actually, I call it a Welsh card because a) this is what the seller believes... b) it circulated in Wales (from Senny Bridges to Llanbethian)... and c) it looks Welsh, isn't it ... ;-) but Phil is even challenging this idea...
Wait & see !
edited Sept.13 : Phil has it right ! he knew that this picture was also published in one of his old rugby books... "Aha! I now have the answer to where the game in the postcard is, and I am pleased to say I was correct in placing it outside Wales. It is the first game at the Queen's Club, West London, where old Varsity matches were held, and where the Stella Artois Tennis Championships still take place before Wimbledon. It is London Welsh against Newport, in the (black and amber) hoops: so you could say it's an all- Welsh game, in England! Best wishes to all for the World Cup"
